The situation unfolding in France is deeply concerning. While the right to peaceful protest must be respected, those responsible for violence, vandalism, and the destruction of public and private property must be held accountable and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
I firmly support freedom of speech and the right to peaceful demonstrations. People must have the freedom to express their grievances and send a message to their government, but peaceful protest must never become an excuse for violence, vandalism, or destruction.
It is important to recognize that the majority of demonstrators were peaceful and exercised their rights responsibly. However, the small minority who resorted to violence and destruction must be held accountable for their actions and face justice.
As inflation, rising living costs, and ongoing wars continue to affect people’s lives, more demonstrations could spread across Europe and potentially other parts of the world. Millions of people are struggling to make ends meet, and governments must listen to their concerns and address the challenges they face.
Now is the time for decisive, responsible action. French authorities must protect peaceful demonstrators, safeguard public and private property, restore public order, and ensure that anyone who commits a crime is identified and brought to justice through due process. At the same time, political leaders must address the legitimate economic and social grievances driving public frustration before tensions escalate further.
We must stand united in defense of democracy, freedom of speech, and the rule of law. The right to protest must be protected, but violence must never be tolerated, and those who break the law must face its consequences. France deserves peace, security, and justice, and its people deserve a future built on stability, dignity, and hope.
