The new Prime Minister, Najla Boudin Ramadan, was born in 1958 in Kairouan Province.
She is a professor of higher education at the National School of Engineers in Tunis, specializing in geology.
She obtained a doctorate in geology in 1987 from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines in Paris.
She is currently running a plan in charge of implementing World Bank programs in the Ministry of Higher Education and scientific research. She was appointed Director General in charge of Quality at the Ministry of Higher Education in 2011.
She also held the position of head of the Unit for Action by Objectives to implement the higher education reform project, and was assigned a task at the office of the former Minister of Higher Education Shehab Boden in 2015.
Najla Bouden Ramadan is the first woman to hold the position of prime minister in the history of Tunisia.
